Rules and Submission guidelines

Contestant cannot have performed for a festival of national renown such as the National Storytelling Festival or the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival, including "New Voices" type stages

Contestants cannot have performed for TELL: Pittsburgh Storytelling Series before or have been selected as one of the six semi-finalists for the 2022 Folktale Fight. Semi-finalists from the 2021 Folktale Fight may apply.

Contestants must be 18 years of age or older as of April 6, 2023

Videos submissions are to be 5-7 minutes in length. Video submissions must be given via a public or unlisted YouTube link.

By submitting a video, contestants acknowledge that they individually have the legal rights to the content within their submissions and acknowledge full and sole responsibility for any violation of national or international copyright laws.

Contestants MUST be able to perform live over Zoom on May 18, 2023 at the time the Folktale Fight contest is presented to a live audience.

The semi-finalist who wins the contest will be crowned the 2023 TELL Folktale Fight Champion and win a performance contract for TELL's Winter Olio in December 2023.

Contestants must have and provide a website that maintains its own web domain

Contestants must provide their resume or storytelling experience

Submissions must be submitted between 12:00am April 6th, 2023 through 11:59pm April 23rd, 2023.
